Helping business owners with Stamped Concrete Overlay in Lafayette city, Opelousas, Lake Charles, Youngsville, and Baton Rouge.

Do's and Don'ts of Installation: concrete mix

What needs to be done to do a successful job.

Although stamped concrete is faster and more convenient to install than brick or paver, it is still a complicated process that requires the right tools, materials, experience, and site conditions. installation to ensure a successful result.

Here's an important tip to discuss with your contractor about dos and don'ts before the project begins:

Insist on the use of a concrete mix that can withstand anticipated exposure conditions, conditions such as freezing and thawing, plus northern weather melting chemicals and wear and tear from human or vehicular traffic. Pay particular attention to the ratio of the amount of water and concrete, or the amount of water in proportion to the cement. Adding a lot of water dilutes and weakens the cement paste, making it less durable and more porous.

Don't Save on Boosters. For many slabs, reinforcement (in the form of steel rod or welded mesh) is necessary to increase strength and help control cracks. This is especially true for driveways and other surfaces that support vehicular traffic. Use a Powder Color Hardener, which will produce a denser and more waterproof surface.
