Most contractors will apply several coats of sealer to protect stamped concrete and block the penetration of dirt, antifreeze chemicals, oil and grease stains, and other substances.

A good quality sealer not only makes concrete easy to clean, it offers other benefits as well, such as enhancing color and preventing discoloration from UV exposure. (See An Introduction to Sealers).
